MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) — A minivan driver is accused of hitting two German tourists, killing one, when he backed up into them in a crosswalk near Bryant Park on Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday. Alexandra Sabine Lewalter Maric, 50, and her husband, 55, were crossing the street when they were struck by a Toyota Sienna near East 40th Street and Fifth Avenue by the New York Public Library at around 2:40 p.m., according to the NYPD.
