General Hospital’s Sawandi Wilson gives a happy update after baby daughter’s birth
Wilson shared a video on Instagram in which he offered a positive update about his wife and their newborn daughter. He revealed that he has become a dad, and in the first glimpse, he had to see his daughter hooked to breathing machines. “30 minutes later, my wife’s stitched up, thank God, but our baby’s on oxygen, headed to the NICU. The first time we see our daughter — like, technically, the first, day one of being a dad — she’s hooked up to machines to help her breathe. She’s hooked up to machines to help stabilize her glucose levels,” Wilson explained.
He revealed that while entering the NICU, he questioned why such things happen only to his family. However, looking around the room quickly humbled Wilson. He witnessed that on the left-hand side, in a bassinet, there was a baby who had been there for two months and had to undergo heart surgery. Whereas on his right-hand side was an empty bassinet, leaving him wondering what had happened to the child. Later, he turned his gaze to his own baby and believed everything would be okay.
“Eventually, she gets off oxygen. Then she gets off the IV. And [being in the NICU] made her have a stronger recovery because any possible problems that could happen, [the medical team] were there. They were on top of it,” he said.
Additionally, he also shared the disturbing experience during his child’s delivery. Wilson explained that he planned to enter the operating room to meet his baby, but the staff led him toward his wife, where he saw her exposed intestines. He described the floor as slippery with blood at the time. Although he couldn’t see his wife’s face due to the screen covering her initially, he saw the procedure and mentioned that she was awake and calm during birth.
