The news that Drew (Cameron Mathison) was shot began to spread around Port Charles on the September 3 episode of General Hospital. After Tracy (Jane Elliot) found her nephew, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) began their investigation, and Portia (Brook Kerr) took advantage of an opportunity that was practically handed to her. Meanwhile, Carly (Laura Wright) had what she hoped was an honest conversation about her relationship with Jack (Chris McKenna), and after helping Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Vaughn (Bryce Durfee), Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) reached out to Jason (Steve Burton) for some help herself! Check out everything that happened below.
Shots In The Dark
As Trina and Kai took cover in a bedroom, Drew took something out of his safe. With a drink in hand, the congressman walked to the fireplace, where he looked adoringly between a framed photo of him and Willow and then at her engagement ring. Placing the ring next to the photo, Drew murmured a promise that everything would work out. Just as Drew finished his drink, a shot rang out. From their hideaway in the bedroom, Trina and Kai flinched from the bang. Back in the living room, Drew collapsed to the floor, having been shot in the back! A shadowy figure stepped up to Drew and fired again at closer range before walking away.
Kai stopped Trina from leaving the bedroom to investigate, but then left the room himself, armed with a softball bat, after hearing someone leave the house. Not wanting to stay in the room alone, Trina followed, and they saw an unconscious Drew on the floor in the living room. Since Drew still had a pulse, Trina wanted to stop the bleeding and call the police, but Kai warned her that they needed to leave him alone since they’d broken into his house in the first place. Spotting headlights from the front window, Kai told Trina to leave through the back door. Before exiting the house himself, Kai opened the front door a bit.

Lucas was on the hunt for an MIA Willow at the hospital hub, and Liz shared that her friend had walked out on her shift. Meanwhile, in the hallway, Chase shared his theory with Anna that Drew had the motive to murder Judge Heran if it meant keeping Willow in a position where she needed him. Anna didn’t buy it, even claiming Chase’s judgment might be clouded due to his own past with Willow, but the detective insisted that Drew was capable of murder.
Soaking wet, Willow walked through the ER doors. Shocked by her friend’s appearance, Elizabeth asked where she’d been, but Willow just stared back blankly. Later, Liz shared with Lucas that Willow was back; she’d gone for a walk to clear her head after receiving bad news and got caught in the storm. Lucas thought that Liz was giving Willow too much grace, and worried that she would get dragged down alongside Nurse Tait.
Making a List, Checking it Twice
Approaching Drew’s front door, Tracy entered when it swung open and was shocked to find her nephew bleeding out on the living room floor. “Don’t you dare die on me,” she threatened, checking for a pulse and calling 911. Later, as the paramedics took Drew out, Tracy insisted on riding in the ambulance with Drew. However, before she could walk out the door, Anna and Dante arrived to investigate the crime scene. Tracy grew emotional, explaining to Anna how she’d gone there hoping to reason with Drew about letting Scout see the family, especially since the restraining order against Rocco and Danny meant that Scout couldn’t be at the Quartermaine house to see Monica, either.
As Tracy wondered how she would ever be able to break the news to Monica if Drew died, Dante pulled Anna aside to share that he’d found mud and water by the back door. Neither Anna nor Dante thought the crime scene looked like forced entry. In fact, Dante added, the only thing that seemed out of place was the softball bat on the floor. After excusing Tracy, who remembered stepping over the bat earlier, Anna and Dante began putting together the long list of suspects who might want Drew Cain dead. “Who’s at the top?” she wondered.

Back at her apartment with Kai, Trina began to spiral about how leaving Drew made them look guilty. “We already are guilty,” he pronounced. “Of trespassing and burglary… and how would we explain hiding in Drew’s bedroom?” While he had a plausible reason for being there as Drew’s assistant, Kai added, Trina did not. Later, as Kai checked his phone for any alerts about Drew, Trina fretted that during the investigation, the police might take the evidence Drew had against her mother. Then, Kai handed over the envelope that held Heather Webber’s doctored tests. “No one can know that we were there, so I can’t even tell my parents that they’re in the clear,” Trina moaned.

Brook Lynn was sitting with Wiley, who’d had a bad dream, in the Quartermaine kitchen when Michael entered, dressed all in black and wet from the storm raging outside. Apologizing for not having been there when Wiley woke up, Michael assured his son that he’d always be there for him and his sister. “But that’s what Mommy said. Now we never see her,” the little boy lamented.
After he and Brook Lynn reminded Wiley of how many family members he had looking out for him, Michael put his son back to bed. When he returned to the kitchen, Brook Lynn speculated about whether he was doing the right thing by not allowing Willow to see the kids. Michael remained firm in his belief that Willow was too unstable to be around the kids, shocking Brook Lynn with the news that she was going back to Drew.
Dr. Doom
After changing into dry scrubs after her walk in the rain, Willow stepped off the elevator and ran into Chase. Upon hearing that Drew had been shot, she fainted in his arms. Later, in the break room, Willow wondered if Drew was going to make it through surgery. Meanwhile, as he and Liz began prepping Drew for surgery, Lucas hoped that he could remove the bullets without damaging the spinal cord.
In Isaiah’s room at the Metro Court, he and Portia were making out when she got a phone call that there was a VIP headed to the hospital, and she took off. Once she got to G.H., Portia was stunned to learn from Liz that the patient in question was Drew, in critical condition after two gunshots to the back. On his way to the O.R., Lucas informed a worried Willow that Drew was stable enough to be transported for surgery, and he’d do everything in his power to help him. Sharing an update with Portia, Lucas mentioned that the location of the bullets had Drew at risk for paralysis, and the sooner he operated, the better the chances for saving Drew’s mobility. That information piqued Portia’s interest, and she volunteered to scrub in for the surgery so Lucas wouldn’t have to hold off for the doctor he was waiting for to assist.

Tell Me No Lies
Brennan was having a drink in his office when Colette entered for an update. Concerned that it had been 48 hours without contact from Josslyn or Vaughn, she called Jack stubborn for not acknowledging that the Five Poppies mission was a failure and the agents were clearly gone. Pushing back, Jack wondered if she wanted to see him fail, insisting that it wasn’t a big deal that Vaughn missed a check-in. Colette pressed Brennan to brief her on the mission and let her go to Croatia to clean up Josslyn and Vaughn’s mess, but Jack dismissed her when a frantic Carly arrived.
Worried that she’d made a huge mistake with Drew, Carly relayed her blow-up with her ex. When she explained that she’d been with Drew for over a year and he turned out not to be the man she thought he was, Jack questioned if Carly was afraid that she was wrong about him. As her insecurities about her past relationship bubbled to the surface, Carly cried, “I want to believe in you, and I want to believe in us, and I can’t be wrong again.”
Taking Carly’s hands, Jack promised that he would never intentionally hurt her. He reassured her that he wanted their relationship to work as well, and she thanked him for hearing her out and being upfront with her. “It means more to me than you know,” she whispered, unaware that he was keeping a major secret from her about Josslyn being his newest recruit. Jack then received a phone call from Anna about Drew and relayed the news of the shooting to Carly. “No witnesses. It appears that Drew was home alone,” Brennan shared. “Good thing you were here with me the whole time,” he added, hinting that he’d provide Carly with an alibi.

Sending Out an S.O.S.
Jason phoned Danny from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris to let him know that his flight was delayed. While he was waiting to board the plane, Jason flashed back to his encounters with Britt, remembering how she said it hurt to see him since she can’t return to Port Charles and recalling their conversations about how he always went running to Carly whenever she needed him.
Meanwhile, at the Five Poppies, Joss was shocked that Britt walked out after seeing her and Vaughn tied up. Entering the room, Pascal offered them water in exchange for the names of who else knew about the op, but Vaughn claimed that Agent Jacks knew nothing, as she was only part of his cover story. Lurking out in the hallway, Britt approached the room and heard Joss cry out as inside, one of Pascal’s goons was about to slit her throat. To stop him, Vaughn confessed that they were reporting to Brennan, but he didn’t know who else was on the case. After giving the signal to release Josslyn, Pascal warned them both that if the combination to the black box didn’t work, he would “get rid” of them. Stepping into the hallway, Pascal told his sidekick that Brennan’s secrecy could work in their favor, as it would be easier to erase their operation’s presence at the Five Poppies once they tied up loose ends — aka Joss and Vaughn.
Once alone again, a frustrated Joss and Vaughn bickered, with her chastising him for letting Pascal think that they could use her to break him. Softening, Vaughn whispered, “They’re not wrong.” For a beat, the two shared a heated look, but Vaughn then noted that he didn’t tell Pascal anything he didn’t already know from their WSB files — like the black box, which means there’s a mole at the bureau. Suddenly, they heard the electronic lock disengage, and Britt entered the room!
Revealing that they weren’t honeymooners but WSB agents, Joss begged Britt to help them escape and leave with them. Britt said that there wasn’t much she could do and that they had to help themselves. She pressed something into Josslyn’s hand before leaving. When Pascal caught her shutting the door, Britt went into “Britch” mode to cover her connection to Joss and questioned if “he” knew that Pascal had kidnapped honeymooners. Accusing her handler of being terrible at taking initiative, Britt stalked off. Back in the room, Joss showed Vaughn the small manicure scissors Britt had handed her and used them to cut their restraints. When the guard returned, Joss and Vaughn, now free, ambushed him.

Retreating to her suite, Britt dug out the burner phone Jason had given her and tried to call for help, but didn’t have a strong enough signal. Just as he was about to board a flight back to Port Charles, Jason received Britt’s call, but the connection was garbled, and he couldn’t make out what she was saying. Meanwhile, approaching Britt from behind, Pascal yanked the phone from her hand. “I don’t care what he thinks,” Pascal spat. “This time, you have gone too far.”
