General Hospital has officially announced the release date for Ryan Paevey’s return. For those unfamiliar, he previously portrayed Nathan West, the son of Cesar Faison and Dr. Liesl Obrecht. He first appeared in 2013, but his story ended in 2018 after being shot and dying from complications of the gunshot wound. With Paevey’s comeback, fans are curious to know whether he’s playing Nathan with a new twist or an entirely different character.

When is Ryan Paevey returning to General Hospital?

General Hospital teased that Paevey will return on Friday, September 19, 2025, in a preview video.

The show shared a new clip across its social media featuring Finola Hughes and Ryan Paevey’s interaction. In the video, Hughes, walking outside the studio while focused on her phone, doesn’t look ahead and bumps into Paevey, who is holding a script. A surprised Hughes asks him what he is doing there, and he replies, “I work here.” In disbelief, Hughes tries to confirm, and Paevey nods. She again asks the same question and adds, “I thought you left.”

Paevey admits that he did leave but has now come back. Hughes points to his script and asks if he’s practicing lines for the show, and he agrees. Hughes finally accepts that Paevey is returning and asks when he will be on air. He replies, “Friday.” When she clarifies if he means this Friday, he nods and says, “This Friday.”

Who will Ryan Paevey play on General Hospital after his return?

It remains unclear what role Paevey will play.

In the final moments of the video, Hughes is enthusiastic about Paevey’s return and asks about his role on the show. Paevey refuses to answer, saying, “I can’t tell you that. It’s a secret.” The upcoming episode is expected to reveal whether he is reprising Nathan West or stepping into a new role.
