Fullmetal Alchemist Creator’s Much-Anticipated Anime Finally Sets Netflix Release Date

Daemons of the Shadow Realm finally has a Netflix release date. The upcoming anime, based on the manga Yomi no Tsugai by Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa, is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in July. The announcement provides the first concrete details on when audiences will be able to begin watching the long-awaited adaptation.

Netflix has set a July 4, 2026 premiere date for Daemons of the Shadow Realm, the upcoming anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa’s manga Yomi no Tsugai. According to What’s on Netflix, the series will be released weekly, with new episodes arriving every Saturday. Netflix has also confirmed that multiple dubbed versions will be available when the anime launches.

The story follows twins Yuru and Asa, who were raised separately in an isolated village. While Yuru works as a hunter, Asa has been confined and assigned a special role within the community. Their lives change when attackers arrive at the village in search of Yuru, leaving many of its residents dead and forcing the siblings into a desperate escape.

As events spiral out of control, Yuru finds himself entangled in a larger mystery involving a pair of daemons whose existence is connected to the hidden truth behind the village and the attack. The voice cast includes Kensho Ono as Yuru, Yume Miyamoto as Asa, Takako Honda as Hidari, Rikiya Koyama as Migi, and Misaki Kuno as Gabby, among others.

The adaptation is based on the manga from Arakawa, best known as the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist. Masahiro Andō is directing the series, while animation production is being handled by Bones Film. The anime is planned as a two-cour production, with the second batch of episodes scheduled to debut later in 2026.

With weekly episodes set to begin streaming in July, Netflix subscribers will soon be able to follow the fantasy mystery.
