H.G. Wells’ "War of the Worlds" has been adapted many times, thrice since 2019 alone (should have stopped at two), including, of course, Steven Spielberg’s stunning 2005 film with Tom Cruise. And while every adaptation adds its own elements to it, at the heart of the story is how an alien invasion impacts humanity, not the spectacle of the invasion itself. Apple TV's Invasion works on that same principle, focusing on how the arrival of a hostile alien species impacts ordinary people, but with a perspective that makes it unique among its peers.
