First Take Host Molly Qerim Leaving ESPN, Issues Statement

Molly Qerim has announced that she’s leaving ESPN’s First Take. After years of co-hosting the popular sports debate show, Qerim revealed the news in a statement via an Instagram story. Rumors about her leaving started when Evan Cohen temporarily replaced her in July 2025. While her break in July was to enjoy her summer vacation, the host has now revealed that she’s leaving the show for good.

Molly Qerim joined ESPN in 2006 and has worked on digital media content, including interviews with celebrities and athletes. She has covered major events like Super Bowls and the NBA All-Star Game. She initially joined First Take as an interim host in July 2015 but was later made permanent in September 2015.

In a recent Instagram story, Qerim revealed that she’s leaving the network. She addressed the rumors about her exit before she made it official, stating, “Now that the news came out earlier than I intended, and not in the way I hoped…”

“After much reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to close this incredible chapter and step away from First Take,” Qerim revealed in the story. “Hosting this show has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Every morning, I had the privilege of sharing the desk with some of the most brilliant, passionate, and entertaining voices in sports—and with all of you, the best fans in the world,” she shared.

Qerim added, “I’m so grateful for what this journey has given me: lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and the chance to be part of something truly special.” She concluded, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for welcoming me into your homes.”

ESPN had reportedly offered Qerim to renew her contract, but the 41-year-old former host decided not to proceed (via New York Post).

Qerim is yet to reveal what the next steps in her career are going to be.
