Filmmaker Jeff Fowler has confirmed that filming has wrapped on “Sonic the Hedgehog 4”. He commemorated the occasion by sharing a photo of himself in the director’s chair, posing with a figure of Metal Sonic.

Fowler directed all three previous films and wrote on X today: “On behalf of this amazing cast/crew, we have filmed the BEST Sonic Movie yet and can’t wait to share.”

The “Sonic” franchise has remarkably seen both its critical and box-office fortunes rise with each subsequent entry and 2024’s third film pulled in not just quite strong reviews but $422 million worldwide.

The fourth film cast will be led by Ben Schwartz. Jim Carrey, Kristen Bell, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Nick Offerman and Richard Ayoade.

That’s not the only major 2027 tentpole that has just wrapped production. Director Dean DeBlois has also confirmed today that the live-action “How to Train Your Dragon 2” has wrapped filming after 81 days of principal photography.

He celebrated the occasion with a piece of artwork. Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gerard Butler, Cate Blanchett and Phil Dunster star in that film.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 4” will be released in cinemas on March 19th 2027 while “How to Train Your Dragon 2” will open in cinemas on June 11th 2027.

And that's a wrap on #SonicMovie4 !!!
