A page named Opa Studios took to Instagram to share an AI-generated picture of Ryan Gosling and Johnny Depp after San Diego Comic-Con. Depp appeared in his Ebenezer character look, whereas Gosling wore a white T-shirt layered under a red jacket, the same outfit he wore onstage at Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel. The caption earlier read, “Some of our favorite moments from Comic-Con weren’t on stage — they were watching Ryan Gosling, Johnny Depp, and @slopaxo moving through the crowds like the unlikeliest best-friend trio” (via Entertainment Weekly).

Mendes, who is married to Gosling, took to the comment section to debunk that the photo is fake. She politely asked the page to clearly state where the picture came from to avoid spreading misinformation. “FAKE. Please let People know when you’re putting out AI,” she wrote. Following her comment, the page changed the caption, mentioning that it’s “AI.” In the comments, they reportedly added a brief disclaimer note.

The page wrote, “THIS WAS AI*** Thank you for saying something. You’re right, and I’ll be more clear going forward.” The admin also took the opportunity to praise Gosling’s work and to wish the couple the best. In a separate comment, they also noted that they are a big fan of Mendes’ movies.

Although the photo was fake, Depp and Gosling did appear separately to promote their respective projects. However, it remains unclear whether they crossed paths even during this event.
