Exclusive: Shah Rukh Khan On Actors He Has Admired and More

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the finest actors this country has produced, and through his decades of filmography, he has given us enough reasons to visit the theatres and watch him on the big screen. It is no wonder why he is referred to as ‘the last of the stars’ due to the fading era of larger-than-life mega stardom.

However, to no degree does he ever let this get over to his head. Looking back at an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about being a fan and his approach to selecting and making films. When asked about who Shah Rukh Khan was a fan of from his younger days, he said, “I’ve never been a fan of any actor. I never had the time to be anyone's fan because my parents died at a very young age. I say this without any sort of arrogance that I became a star before I could be anyone's fan.”

While not being an active fan, his love for movies and the performers bringing them to life had him admire the actors who portrayed them. He continued, “I have not been a fan, but I have admired the work of many people like Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Mohammad Ali, Sunil Gavaskar, and Kapil Dev, to name a few.

Shah Rukh also further spoke about how people would constantly try to opinionate his choices. But despite all the noise, he always listened to his own conscience.

He added, “Many people will step forward and give me their opinions on the films I should and should not do. But as an actor, I have to go ahead with my instinct. I don't think the struggle is to make a big blockbuster that earns crores at the box office, but to make a film that will please everyone with one little story.”
