Emmerdale spoilers: The end for Bear ‘confirmed’ as he cracks and admits to killing Ray

Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) was back at the police station in Emmerdale tonight, getting questioned once again about the murder of Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).

DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) knows Bear killed Ray, but the exact details of that day remain unclear to her.

In January, Bear strangled Ray to death and afterwards, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) tried to dispose of the body by putting it in a depot van. Because Bear was so traumatised from his ordeal on the farm, he didn’t realise he was killing Ray.

Paddy and Dylan attempted to keep the murder quiet for the sake of Bear, but forcing an already disturbed old man to not tell anyone about what happened was never going to work.

Bear confessed but since then, he has continuously told DS Walsh that no-one else witnessed what he did to Ray. However, due to the fact Bear has accidentally contradicted his comments multiple times, Walsh has remained determined to get the actual truth out of him.

Bear has spent the past couple of weeks at a mental health unit, something that proved hugely beneficial for him. Paddy knew that his dad needed help, but was also aware if he stayed there long enough, the CPS may drop the charges and prevent Bear from facing a murder trial.

But the therapy Bear had meant he could finally think about what he really wants, and not have his thoughts impacted by those around him. He confidently told Paddy that when he’s allowed home, he will face whatever Walsh throws at him.

In tonight’s episode, that looked like more questioning about the day Ray died. For a little while, Bear did well at sticking to his story and claiming that Paddy and Dylan weren’t involved.

However, when Walsh touched on Bear’s history as a wrestler and suggested that this meant he knew what he was doing when he strangled Ray, things started to fall apart.

It was clear as day to Walsh that Bear was lying to her when she asked him to tie a specific knot that was used when Ray’s body was disposed of. Bear tried and tried, but he wasn’t able to guess the correct one.

In an attempt to protect Paddy and Dylan, Bear snapped and claimed that he did mean to kill Ray after all.

This was a huge development, as it has now increased the chance of Bear going to prison for the rest of his life.
