Eric Pollard (Chris Chittel) is up to his usual tricks in Emmerdale.

He married Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) as part of a tax avoidance thingy to help protect Jacob’s future. But then Eric found out that Kerry was having it away with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) in his house and his nose was bent all out of shape.

He came up with the perfect solution – he bought a call bell and gave Kerry the receiver, meaning she would be at his beck and call should he need her in an ‘emergency’ if his Parkinsons flared up.

It stank of ulterior motive but loved-up Kerry was too distracted to notice.

Sensing the perfect opportunity, Eric puts it to the test – and when Kerry leaves him alone, he fakes a fall. It works like a charm; Kerry is mortified that it happens the moment she leaves him alone. Eric is inwardly gleeful that his trickery is working.

But the joke’s on Eric as in reaction to the fall, he overhears Kerry and Jai talking about care homes. Incensed that she’s planning to get rid of him, he confronts them about their affair and plans to offload him.

Kerry is at first shocked that Eric knew all along and then disgusted that he could cry wolf over his condition.

His lack of trust infuriates her. A proudful Eric kicks Kerry out.

But he’s not winning this round – when Kerry tells Jai what Eric’s done, Jai offers her a place to stay. Eric’s actions send their relationship from 0 to 60.

In a surprising turn of events, it’s Caleb Miligan (William Ash) who reminds Eric how much Kerry has sacrificed for him, and he softens.

But it’s too late – the next time they speak, Kerry tells him she wants a divorce. Has Eric ruined the best thing that’s ever happened to him?
