The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

And trust us, it’s a pretty big ep.

Is Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) beginning to have doubts about John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in Emmerdale?

It certainly looks that way, as in the latest instalment he realised his husband had been lying to him.

Aaron and John are currently on holiday from the village. They’ve been staying in a little cottage which is even decorated with dolls to, you know, really give that cosy and welcoming vibe.

Up until today, things were going pretty great for Aaron. He was enjoying time away from family drama, and even asked John yesterday if they should consider moving away from there permanently.

Aaron put forward the idea of buying the place they were staying in. John seemed reluctant to investigate whether this was a possibility, but said he would to please his partner.

John was seen on the phone but as he got off the device, we discovered he wasn’t even on a call. He told Aaron that the landlord wasn’t particularly interested in selling up.

The first discovery Aaron made as his morning began was from a neighbour called Marge. She commented on how it was nice to see people in the house, as it’s been empty for a little while. When topic of conversation turned to buying the property, Marge confirmed the owner of the house actually died a year ago.

Troubled, Aaron then wandered back to the door he found yesterday. He picked the lock and was able to get inside. To his shock, he found a child’s bed, medals displayed and a framed newspaper insert of a young lad saving a dog.

By this point, John had returned from yet another trip into the woodland nearby. Aaron confronted him about lying – they weren’t in a holiday cottage at all, they were staying in John’s childhood home.

He spun a story to Aaron about his mum dying of cancer last year, and just how much it impacted him. Losing a loved one to cancer is something Aaron can also relate to, as his gran Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) died after a diagnosis. In 2024, Aaron’s mum Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) was also told she had breast cancer, but fortunately survived the journey.

Aaron connected with John in this moment which meant the dishonesty wasn’t a strong focus of the conversation. Instead, John reminded Aaron that he previously expressed interest in buying the house, and said it would be a good idea if they move in together.

Aaron smiled – it was a brilliant idea.

Despite the couple being back on the same page, those small concerns will continue to play on Aaron’s mind as a new week begins on Monday.

John will begin to pick up on Aaron’s change in behaviour and acts fast to ensure he doesn’t start questioning their marriage.

He chooses to drug some whisky, and successfully tricks Aaron into consuming some.

‘His [John’s] behaviour changes and he becomes a bit erratic’, Danny Miller revealed.

‘He’s going out all the time and he’s out for these long runs. Aaron knows he’s used it personally as an excuse in the past when he wants to get away, and he’s wondering what he’s struggling with.

‘He puts two and two together and starts to work out that maybe Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) and Robert (Ryan Hawley) are right [about John].’

Just before the instalment ended, John returned to the woods. It was at this point a massive plot twist aired, that Metro has chosen to keep hidden from readers.

You can race to ITVX yourself to find out what it is, and believe us when we say, it’s game-changing.
