Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks‘ newest sci-fi dramedy TV show has finally been added to Peacock‘s library. Beginning today, all ten episodes of Banks’ The Miniature Wife are officially available to stream on Peacock.
What do we know about Elizabeth Banks’ new Peacock show?
The Miniature Wife was based on the short story by Manuel Gonzales. It features the Pitch Perfect alum who gets accidentally shrunk down to 6 inches by her scientist husband, portrayed by Golden Globe winner Matthew Macfadyen (Succession). The series also stars O-T Fagbenle, Zoe Lister-Jones, Sian Clifford, and Sofia Rosinsky, with recurring characters played by Ronny Chieng, Aasif Mandvi, Rong Fu, and Tricia Black.
“It follows a couple struggling with the imbalance of power in their marriage, a husband (a scientist) makes his wife (a novelist with writer’s block) feel figuratively small and unheard. Then he accidentally shrinks her to six inches tall, so now she’s literally small and unheard, as the metaphor becomes real. This is an exploration of the fragility of love and ambition, cloaked in the absurdity of its premise. But at its core, it’s a love story and a remarriage story,” reads the official synopsis. As they struggle to navigate the sobering truth of her new, miniature reality, they are forced to confront whether their marriage and their love can survive. Perhaps, miniaturization is the epic reset these two needed to tackle the biggest crisis of their lives and fall in love all over again.”
The dramedy is created and executive-produced by showrunners Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner. In addition to leading the cast, Banks and Macfadyen are also executive producing alongside Michael Aguilar, Suzanne Heathcote, Michael Ellenberg, Lindsey Springer, and director Greg Mottola. It is a production by Media Res.
