Taito announced it will offer a Dragon Quest Metal Slime Newton’s cradle in Japan that lets us watch Metal Slimes swing back and forth. This will show up as a Japanese arcade prize starting on October 24, 2026, according to the official social media account. No stores that ship to North America are offering it yet, but it is possible we could see a retailer like Aitai Kuji sell it since it’s sold past Taito Dragon Quest items like a computer mouse based on this monster.

While there’s no official trailer for this Dragon Quest Metal Slime Newton’s cradle, the official photos show it will function exactly like other versions of the device. It stands at about five inches tall (13cm). Each of the metal balls has a Metal Slime on it. If you grab one of the ones at the end, pull it back, then let it drop, it will then cause the one on the opposite end to move and swing out. The momentum will then cause the ball originally pulled back on the device to swing back again. This is designed to show different laws of physics.

Here’s how that will look:

We’ve seen a number of Metal Slime items released as prizes in Japanese arcades thanks to Taito releases. In addition to the computer mouse, there was a toy that continually ran away from the user and a floor cleaner. None of these were officially released worldwide after their Japanese debut.

The Dragon Quest Metal Slime Newton’s cradle swing will show up in Japanese arcades starting on October 24, 2026. The next game in the series to appear will be Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, whichcomes to the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on December 3, 2026.
