Dr Todd prepares to ‘deal with’ Jacob in Emmerdale as her vile obsession lie spirals

Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) has become a shell of his former self as a result of Doctor Caitlin Todd’s (Caroline Harker) bullying in Emmerdale.

For a reason yet to be revealed, Doctor Todd seems to take pleasure in completely destroying Jacob’s confidence. At any given opportunity, the surgeon will tell Jacob that he’s a useless resident doctor, and will never fully qualify.

To make the situation even more complex, Doctor Todd also pays Jacob compliments and offers him opportunities alongside belittling him. It has left Jacob deeply frustrated. Whenever he tries to stick up for himself, Todd has a comment ready to throw back immediately. She usually turns the tables, or reminds Jacob that it’s not her fault if he reacts badly to something she’s said.

We saw an even darker side to Doctor Todd a few days ago, when she recorded a note on her dictaphone claiming that she thinks Jacob is growing obsessed with her.

At the time, he was walking on eggshells around her, worried about landing back in her bad books. Due to the fact Jacob addressed an incident more than once with her, Todd twisted the situation and realised that she could create a new paper trail about something that isn’t even true.

She was given an opportunity to fuel this lie in tonight’s episode, when she found a bottle of champagne on her doorstep after moving in with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick). Doctor Todd confronted Jacob in front of Vanessa and Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), and stated that it was crossing a professional boundary.

Jacob claimed he didn’t leave the champagne, and later discovered it was Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell), who believed he was just trying to help.

In an attempt to get a break from his witch of a boss, Jacob rang his colleague Rich and asked to switch places with him so he could attend the blood donation session at The Hide tomorrow.

To Jacob’s absolute horror, he later discovered that Todd would be overseeing the event, which gave her the perfect chance to suggest that he switched shifts with Rich just to spend more time with her.

Manpreet and Vanessa have both been surprised by Doctor Todd’s comments, but the fact she is sharing so many of them has left them wondering if Jacob is actually obsessed with his boss.

Pretending to be the victim, Doctor Todd told Manpreet that she knows exactly how to deal with Jacob.

But what exactly will she do?
