Devastating exit confirmed on Coronation Street as Jodie ruins yet another life

Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) was never going to leave Coronation Street quietly.

Manchester’s answer to Fatal Attraction is putting the final stages of her plan to steal her half-sister’s Shona’s (Julia Goulding) life into action.

This plan is secretly sabotaging Shona so she looks like an unfit mother, and Jodie is prepared to go low. Like, ‘endangering baby Harper by pouring boiling water into her bath tub’ low.

Once Shona is ousted, Jodie is deluded enough to believe she can simply step into her sister’s shoes and take her place in the family, as mother to Harper and Lily (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner)… and partner to Shona’s husbandDavid (Jack P Shepherd).

The only thing standing in her way – other than David having absolutely no interest in the bunny-boiling baddie – is her dad Doug (Steve Evets).

Doug’s mental health struggles made the Ramsey household an unstable place to grow up, which is what prompted teenage mum Shona to leave in the first place. This caused Jodie to feel abandoned and kicked off her whole elaborate revenge scheme in the first place.

Terrified of Jodie, Doug sees right through her and is desperate to stop her from harming Shona. So obviously he’s got to go. That’s why Jodie tampers with his bipolar medication in tomorrow’s episode.

This has a cataclysmic knock-on effect into next week’s episodes, culminating in an intense final showdown between the sisters.

When Jodie calls Doug’s doctor and accuses him of being a danger to the family, the mental health team arrives to assess him. It’s a heart-rending scene as Shona tearfully tells her dad how sorry she is as he’s led away, waring his daughter to watch his back with Jodie. Best advice ever.

Although Doug is taken care of, Jodie’s still got to worry aboutBethany Platt (Lucy Fallon). The two haven’t exactly been besties ever since it came to lightly that Jodie assaulted Bethany’s mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and kept it quiet for weeks. Add to that the fact that Jodie’s got a recording of Bethany confessing to sleeping with her mother’s ex-boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) – who Jodie fancied – and suddenly there’s more beef on Coronation Street than in Fred Elliot’s butchers (RIP).

So when Bethany catches Jodie red handed, Jodie already has a little scheme to shut her enemy down…

Later, Shona confides in Bethany that she’s fears she’s losing her mind, as she often hears Harper crying when she isn’t even in the room.

As Jodie returns home with Shona’s birthday cake, she finds Shona frantically searching the living room. Shona explains that she heard the crying again but it sounded like a recording rather than the real thing.

As David and Jodie set about decorating the bistro for Shona’s birthday party, Lily arrives…

When Lily’s phone is plugged into the docking station, suddenly the room is filled with the sound of Harper crying.

Recriminations fly as Shona accuses Lily of recording Harper’s crying in a bid to convince her she was going mad. Upset, Lily swears that she’s no idea how Harper’s crying ended up on her phone, an upset Lily flees from the party. Is Lily telling the truth or has Jodie turned her against her mum?

We get our answer as the moment Corrie fans have been waiting for finally arrives. The showdown. In a flashforward, we see No.8 look like a bomb’s hit it. The living room is strewn with someone’s belongings as a paramedic tends to a casualty on the floor.

Will Jodie be successful in stealing Shona’s family?

The feud between Shona and Jodie reaches its breaking point,secrets are exposed, a gun is fired… and someone takes a bullet.
