Tyler Joseph Andrews teases Theo will explore his DiMera heritage on Days of Our Lives
In conversation with TV Insider, Andrews shared details about Theo’s current state after his breakup with Claire Brady, which prompted his return from South Africa to Salem. He said, “He’s coming back sort of lost, but he’s trying to find himself and he’s trying to find that purpose that he needs in life. He’s maturing, and he wants to solidify something in Salem for the future.”
Theo carries the Carver last name but connects directly to the DiMera family. He’s the son of Lexie, who was the daughter of Stefano DiMera. Andrews revealed that this time, the storyline will explore Theo’s DiMera family lineage, and his character may also begin to take on some of the family’s traits in the process. He said, “I really love exploring the DiMera side because I get to work with actors like Thaao Penghlis [Tony DiMera], who really welcomed me, and he’s really been like an acting teacher for me, just watching him work.”
Detailing his experience working with the DiMeras, he added, “It’s a different energy working with that side of the family, and it brings a different behavior out of Theo. I think the more he gets involved with the DiMera side of the family, he might adapt some of those attributes that you’re used to seeing with them.”
Andrews also revealed that he initially auditioned to play Tate, but didn’t get the role. However, a few months later, he auditioned again for a mystery part. A week later, he learned he had secured the role of Theo.
