When FromSoftware dropped the original Dark Souls all the way back in 2011, they probably knew they'd made something genuinely brilliant. What they probably didn't anticipate was just how much of a cultural impact the future trilogy was going to have on video games as a whole, even spawning a sub-genre all of its own.
