Daayra: Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaranâs New Poster Raises Anticipation

As Daayra is gearing up for release in theatres on September 18, 2026, the buzz around the investigative crime thriller is palpable. Directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios, Daayra stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles.

While Kareena plays a stoic, unreadable investigator (DCP Ajooni Kohli) who strictly operates within the boundaries of the law, Prithviraj (DCP Raman Kumar) is an encounter specialist seething with caged rage who looks to bypass the traditional legal framework to get results. And the audiences would get to witness a face-off between the two on the silver screen.

Daayra new poster adds intrigue

According to the makers, Daayra explores the duality of justice, examining the friction between legal boundaries vs instant street justice, as well as public and law enforcement reactions. The latest poster of Kareena and Prithviraj only intensifies the film’s narrative. Both the characters look poised and intense as they stand near a crime scene, surrounded by police tape. “When every answer raises another question, where does Justice draw the line?” reads the caption, raising further expectations and adding another layer of curiosity to the anticipated thriller.

Meghna Gulzar collaborated with co-writers Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani for a directorial punctuated by an intriguing plot, psychological depth, and an edge-of-the-seat realistic screenplay. And the new poster truly mirrors their writing style, leaving the audience wanting to know more. Kareena and Prithviraj’s character shades in Daayra’s new poster hint at the film being a narrative driven by razor-sharp writing.

Ajooni and Raman carry out the investigation of a brutal crime involving the disappearance of a girl in their own way. In the trailer, Kareena says, “I work within the boundaries of law,” to which Raman replies, “And I don’t.” Their conversation as contrasting cops indicates a hard-hitting drama loading for the audiences.
