A Creepshow trailer has been released and teases that a video game is officially on the horizon. The new game has a trailer as well as a release date for the upcoming horror adaptation.

When does the Creepshow video game come out?

The game, simply titled Creepshow, is set to release sometime in August on PC. The new video game comes courtesy of publisher DreadXP and developer PHL Games, the company led by Brian Clarke, creator of the acclaimed horror indie hit The Mortuary Assistant.

The game follows the story of a kid and his friends at a mall, as their visit spirals into something much darker and they come into contact with the mysterious fortune-teller The Reader. Check out the trailer for the game below:

According to DreadXP, the game will feature multiple playable horror stories, allowing players to “experience a terrifying anthology of standalone nightmares.” The game will also adhere to the tone and style of the original film.

“Getting to publish the iconic Creepshow brand as a game has been a creative dream we don’t want to wake up from, and we think it’s going to pull a whole new audience into the Creep’s tent,” said Patrick Ewald, Founder and CEO of DreadXP. “The teams at AMC, PHL, and DreadXP have put a lot of work in to create something that genuinely feels like you are living (or dying) inside a Creepshow episode, and we can’t wait for fans, old and new, to play it.”

“Follow Danny and his friends as a bad day at the mall spirals into something much darker. Their search for the truth behind Danny’s father leads them to The Reader, a mysterious fortune-teller with a taste for treacherous tales,” reads the game’s official description.

The Creepshow franchise originally began in 1982, in the form a horror comedy anthology written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero. The movie, as well as its subsequent spin-offs, largely follow around someone finding a horror comic titled Creepshow, which features the horror stories depicted in the movies.
