Suave newcomer Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) has got ‘Coronation Street bad boy’ written all over him. But there’s bad, then there’s ‘put a little boy in danger’ bad…
It was clear from day one that Idris was just a little bit too good to be true.
Riding to the rescue in Speed Daal, dispatching two rude customers who were harassing young Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) and turning the head of a very smitten Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). The charming cousin of Weatherfield local Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) certainly knows to play the hero.
‘Playing’ being the operative word.
Prior to the character’s arrival, executive Producer Kate Brooks teased that this Cobbles cheeky chappy is not without his dark side.
‘He’s funny, he’s a handsome chap, and he ruffles a lot of feathers, but he’s not without an edge. He’s not soft, and he’s certainly no pushover. ‘
That might be putting it mildly. The nice guy act started to fade when Brody caught Idris pinning a man named Damo against a wall, demanding money or else. However, the smooth operator talked his way out of his troubled by offering Brody work at his ‘property agency’.
There’s also red flags aplenty in his blossoming romance with Leanne.
Not only did he casually flirt with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) the moment her back was turned, but the new hunk on the Cobbles crossed a line by turning the ringer off Leanne’s phone during a steamy session, so a call from Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) wouldn’t spoil the mood.
Controlling and manipulative behaviour doesn’t go down well on Coronation Street. Just ask Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).
Not everybody in Weatherfield likes Idris as much as Leanne does. He’s already got off of the wrong foot with Alya’s boyfriend Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), who doesn’t trust the ruthless wrong’un an inch. Game recognises game, I suppose.

In case that wasn’t enough, Idris is about to make another enemy – Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine).
Abi knows a nasty piece of work when she sees one…well she does now, anyway. It took her a while to suss out what a rotter Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) was after destroyed her marriage to Kevin (Michael Le Vell).
However, the Websters have (sort) patched things up after a deadly stand-off with a gun in the garage resulted in Carl and Kevin shaking on a truce.
Which is for the best. The Websters will needed to be united for what is about to come, when upcoming scenes of Coronation Street see Abi’s little boy Alfie Franklin (Carter and Oakley Razak Townsend) in serious danger… and the blame falls squarely on her landlord – none other than Idris.
In the café, Abi leaves a message for her landlord complaining about the damp in her flat telling Leanne that he never returns her calls and she doesn’t even know his name.
In Speed Daal, a huge bouquet arrives from Idris, when he arrives to apologise. Will she forgive him?
Abi arrives at Speed Daal with her phone to her ear and when she hears Idris’ phone ringing she realises she has finally tracked down her landlord. Later as Abi tucks a coughing Alfie up for the night we see there’s a real life monster under his bed…black mould.
After waking up Alfie to find him struggling to breathe a panicked Abi phones Kevin who says he will drive them to A&E. Idris is concerned when he sees them carrying Alfie out of the flat. On hearing the news Carl races to the hospital and the consultant tells them he is going to run some tests but they want to keep Alfie ICU overnight .
Back at the flat, Idris and Brody are shocked when they discover the mould on the flat walls. Hearing that Alfie is in a bad way, Idris races to the hospital, what reception will he receive?
At the hospital, the doctor confirms that Alfie’s breathing difficulties are a direct result of the mould in his bedroom and that Abi should find somewhere new to live.
Meanwhile Leanne and Alya point out to Idris that whoever he bought the flat from must have known about the damp and should be held to account.
How will Idris deal with the problem?
