Congressman Asks Feds to Investigate Islamic Community Near San Antonio Military Base

U.S. Rep. Chip Roy is asking the U.S. Departments of Justice, War, and the Treasury to investigate a planned Islamic community in Bexar County located about 30 minutes from a military installation. Roy (R–Austin) cited “ties to nefarious groups, questionable funding sources, and faith leaders espousing violent and terroristic rhetoric” as areas of concern. In the Wednesday letter, Roy mentions an August 14, 2026, report by the Rise Align Ignite Reclaim (RAIR) Foundation that called attention to the burgeoning community.
