TV fans have praised the second episode of Claudia Winkelman’s new chat show after the first was met with backlash.

The Claudia Winkleman Show sees The Traitors presenter swap Scottish castles and red cloaks for the sofa as she welcomes a host of famous celebrities.

Last week, the 54-year-old enjoyed a chinwag with Jeff Goldblum, Vanessa Williams, Jennifer Saunders and Tom Allen.

However, many fans were not impressed with the former Strictly presenter’s work, as some argued that she ‘slid into the background’ of the ‘mundane’ opener.

Now, however, following the second ever episode of the new BBC series, which featured comedian Joanne McNally, actor Guz Khan, Rachel Zegler and former One Direction member Niall Horan, viewers have argued that there was a noticeable ‘step up’.

Taking to Reddit, Brian claimed that it was ‘much better’, writing: ‘Everyone just seemed up for a laugh and they kept the audience interaction to a minimum.’

Scary-Scallion-449 also said: ‘Really enjoyed this week. Rachel Zegler was a revelation to me… [it’s] almost as though these things don’t start off perfect.’

Agreeing, Norfolk123 argued that it needs to ‘find its feet’, while Indianajoes said it left him ‘tearing up’ with laughter.

Pierre also commented: ‘It was genuinely really funny this week! Less random segues into the audience and a really good combination of guests.’

What does Metro think?

Our senior TV reporter Rebecca Cook shared her thoughts on the first episode of Claudia’s new chat show…

Stozy, meanwhile, added: ‘Certainly an improvement on week one. Better balanced guests helped.’

But the Reddit user argued that the beginning and ending still felt ‘very abrupt’ and ‘sometimes the conversation could be expanded on rather than just jumping on’.

Ill_Ad_791 similarly echoed this, writing: ‘I hope she does well but i just feel the age of chat shows is behind us personally.’

This comes after Claudia branded her show as ‘awful’ during a radio appearance on Heart on Friday.

Speaking to hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, The Traitors star joked: ‘The first one was so awful… ‘I suggest people don’t watch [it]. There’s only a few more, let’s pretend it never happened.’

Then, after refusing to take Amanda’s compliment about her show being good, Claudia added: ‘There are people who can do this and I’m not one of them.’

The Claudia Winkelman show returns next Friday on BBC One.
