Christopher Nolanhas one of cinema’s most imaginative minds when it comes to conceiving compelling original stories, but he isn’t above drawing inspiration from great pieces of existing material. Nolan has been inspired by DC Comics, Greek mythology, and world history, but it still doesn’t feel like crafting a remake is within his wheelhouse because of how selective he is. However, Nolan was briefly attached to develop a remake of the classic British television series The Prisoner in 2009, and considered cracking the material once more after winning two Academy Awards. While it does not seem like a remake of The Prisoner is in Nolan’s immediate future, the show is a must-watch for fans of his work. It's not hard to see why Nolan has tried to remake this show multiple times. The experimental storytelling, nonlinear structure, dazzling visuals, and disturbing philosophical undertones of The Prisoner make the series a pioneer in the format that helped define what is known today as “prestige television.”
