George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) might be Coronation Street’s friendliest undertaker, but his business is about to be dead and buried by fake slander accusations. Can Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) bring it back to life?

Things are looking pretty bleak for poor George. Ever since a customer leaving his ten thousand pounds in his will, his business and reputation have been left in tatters thanks a smear campaign led by the customer’s daughter Annie King (Marie Crutchley).

Convinced that George manipulated her mother into changing her will, Annie attacked Shuttleworth’s Independent Funeral Services with a spate of vicious online reviews.

Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), didn’t take kindly to someone dragging her partner’s name through the mud and reported Annie for leaving fake reviews.

However, Annie wasn’t finished. She decided to sue George, hiring  Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) to represent her in court. Due to massive data breach, Adam and Alya weren’t exactly in a position to turn away clients, so they took on the case, even though it could mean destroying George’s livelihood.

This isn’t the only headache George has got to deal with right now. Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), the closest thing he has to a son, is currently trapped in a domestically abusive relationship by his controlling partner Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

George was the first of Todd’s nearest and dearest to see Theo’s true colours when he overheard the vile bully spew a tirade of verbal abuse at Todd while using the toilet in their flat.

Ever since, he’s been determined to rescue Todd and even packed him an ’emergency bag’ should he ever need to escape suddenly.

Needless to say, Theo is not George’s biggest fan and he’s done everything in his power to isolate Todd from him.

Despite the narcissist’s best efforts, Todd still cares for George and snuck away to support him in the Rovers’ on the day of his court case – and George needs all the support he can get.

The verdict wasn’t a good one. The judge ruled against George and declared the latest version of the will to be invalid, ordering him to pay the legal costs for both parties.
