If you were to ask someone what films come to mind when thinking of the acting titan that is Charlize Theron, these would likely be her dramatic roles in blockbusters such as Mad Max: Fury Road or prestige films that explore complex characters, such as her role as Megyn Kelly in Bombshell. However, it is often when an actor breaks type and takes a risk that we see their true brilliance come to light, and that is exactly what happened when Charlize Theron starred alongside Seth Rogen in Long Shot. This 2019 comedy follows Rogen's Fred, a politically stubborn journalist who becomes the speechwriter for Theron's Charlotte Field, who is attempting to begin her run for the presidency and sees the two go from colleagues to soulmates. Theron brings so much to Long Shot that we don't typically see in a Seth Rogen-style comedy. The two not only have natural chemistry, but Theron's dominant presence contrasts much of the silliness surrounding her, even allowing Theron to stun the audience by eventually embracing said ridiculousness.
