Federal agents rolled up an alleged California election-fraud ringleader in the High Desert before sunrise Thursday, according to a New York Post exclusive.

James Brass, 47, known on the street as “Lord,” was taken into custody in Victorville, San Bernardino County, after he walked out of his house around 4:45 a.m., hopped in his car, and forced FBI surveillance teams to chase him to a nearby gas station. Agents pulled him over about 6 a.m. and arrested him without incident.

Prosecutors say Brass used a small firm he owns, Pinnacle Brass, registered with the California Secretary of State, to run a signature mill that targeted Los Angeles’ Skid Row.

The allegation: pay homeless people a couple of dollars apiece to sign official ballot petitions in the names and addresses of actual registered voters.

Two alleged circulators who worked for Brass were charged with him: Courtney Price, 49, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jateisha Herron, 33, of Boron, California. All three face a count of conspiracy to commit identity fraud in furtherance of a state felony. Brass and Price face an additional identity-fraud count.

California Election Fraud Update:

James Brass, 47, of Victorville, was arrested today on a federal indictment charging him with paying people on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles to sign petitions using stolen identities of registered voters to qualify initiatives on ballots in California elections.

Brass is expected to make his initial appearance this afternoon in United States District Court in Riverside.

Also charged in the two-count indictment are two petition circulators who worked for Brass: Courtney Price, 49, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jateisha Herron, 33, of Boron, California.

All three defendants are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit identity fraud in furtherance of a state felony. Brass and Price are charged with an additional count of identity fraud in furtherance of a state felony.

The charged conduct undermines the confidence voters have in our election systems. We will vigorously investigate and charge anyone involved in corrupting our elections.

The Gateway Pundit has been documenting the Skid Row petition racket for months, because James O’Keefe and O’Keefe Media Group put it on hidden camera.

In March, OMG released undercover video of petition workers on Skid Row handing homeless people printed lists of real voters, telling them which name and address to write, and paying $2 to $3 a form.

Circulators were caught logging into an online database to pull registered-voter identities so the forgeries would match the rolls. Petitioners told the undercover team they were paid $7 to $10 per “good” signature and could clear $1,000 a day.

As The Gateway Pundit reported in May, federal prosecutors then charged Brenda Lee Brown Armstrong, a 20-year petition circulator caught on those tapes paying Skid Row residents to register to vote, a federal felony.

Armstrong later pleaded guilty. In September she walked with 18 months’ probation and community service, a slap on the wrist that outraged anyone who still thinks election crimes should mean prison.

In June, FBI agents and other federal investigators swarmed Skid Row after homeless residents told investigators they had been paid cash to sign multiple registration forms and petitions.

Essayli has said for months that his office, working with FBI Los Angeles and the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, has multiple election-fraud cases in the pipeline and that California’s universal mail-ballot system and filthy voter rolls make this kind of scheme easy.

Democrats in Sacramento and the legacy press spent years sneering that “there is no voter fraud.” Meanwhile, the same blue machine that refuses voter ID, mails a ballot to every name on an inflated roll, and fights federal audits of those rolls is the same machine that outsources signature gathering to fly-by-night companies working the most desperate streets in America.
