TLDR

TAO rose 8.33% to $264.83, touching $277 at its peak — a three-month high Raydium added TAO trading and meme coin Buttensor converts fees into automatic TAO purchases Protocol upgrades V440–V450 overhauled subnet emissions, staking, and validator baskets Futures open interest hit $434.58 million, a three-month high, with 24-hour volume up 158% Key resistance sits at $277–$280; a break above could open the path to $300

Bittensor’s TAO token climbed 8.33% to $264.83 on Monday, briefly touching $277 intraday. That marked the token’s highest price in three months and extended a five-session gain to nearly 25%.

The move started from a low of around $220 on September 1. By September 6, TAO had pushed to $265, and the following session carried it toward $277.

TAO broke above a descending trendline that had capped several recovery attempts. CoinGlass data recorded $868 million in 24-hour futures volume, up 158.61%, while open interest reached $434.58 million.

Solana-based DEX Raydium recently added TAO trading, connecting the AI token to a large decentralized finance user base. Shortly after, a meme coin called Buttensor launched on the platform.

Buttensor’s mechanism converts transaction fees into automatic TAO purchases, which are then distributed to BUTT holders. That design creates passive buying pressure for TAO from meme coin trading activity.

Santiment reported TAO’s social dominance rose from 0.05% to 0.12% following the launches. Interest picked up further after ChatGPT-6 Astra’s release brought attention to AI-related tokens.

Analyst DamiDefi noted on X that Gittensor’s RTX 5090-optimized Qwen3.8-27B model passed 500,000 Hugging Face downloads this week. He also pointed to the Good Morning project bringing GPT-6 Astra to Bittensor with verifiable access, describing $TAO as “turning OpenAI into something developers can actually use.”

Protocol Changes Add Substance to the Rally

Bittensor rolled out multiple upgrades through August and into September. V440 introduced an Emission Gate, tying subnet rewards to a market-determined demand threshold.

Subnets above the threshold keep price-linked emissions; weaker subnets see allocations reduced toward zero. Follow-up versions V441, V446, V447, and V448 refined root staking, alpha accounting, and subnet ownership mechanics.

V450 is moving toward validator-curated root baskets with a 1/16 concentration cap, designed to distribute exposure more evenly across qualifying subnets.

TAO also expanded cross-chain through Chainlink’s interoperability infrastructure, reaching Robinhood Chain. The Bittensor Exploit Summit is scheduled for September 28 and 29.

What the Chart Shows Now

Analyst CryptoPatel posted on X that $TAO is up 89% from the bottom of his accumulation zone. He stated the original $3,000 long-term target remains valid and flagged $300–$350 as the next key zone to watch for a “bullish expansion.”

Support now sits at $260–$265 following the trendline breakout. Resistance is at $277–$280, with $300 as the next level above that.

Open interest at $434.58 million represents a three-month high and reflects increased leveraged positioning.
