From whimsical acts to fantastical characters and wondrous music, Beyond Wonderland took festival attendees on a euphoric journey into the Beyond.
Beyond Wonderland SoCal has the heavy honor of kicking off festival season every year, and in 2026, Insomniac showed why it’s the best white rabbit to host the ultimate tea party. The immersive experience made its return to the NOS Event Center on March 27-28, catapulting thousands of Headliners into the fanciful and beautifully mad world of Beyond Wonderland.
The trip down the Rabbit Hole thrust attendees into a world with interactive spirals at every turn, a dream for any sidequest lover. With more than eight stages, there was a little bit of musical magic to inspire everyone. Highlights from the memorable trip with Beyond Wonderland include sets by heavy hitters like Tiësto, SLANDER, Deorro, GRiZ, SIDEPIECE, ATLiens, and so many more.
Beyond Wonderland SoCal 2026 would prove to be the perfect return to the San Bernardino festival for me. Beyond Wonderland SoCal was one of the first massives I attended as a baby raver so long ago. Even then, Insomniac had always upheld the event’s impeccable attention to detail, high-quality production, out-of-this-world musical talent, and indelible characters.
Perhaps these are the secrets of how Beyond Wonderland SoCal somehow continues to outdo itself each year. This year’s installment struck the fancy of attendees and onlookers alike, kicking off the festival season in maddeningly fantastical fashion.

Down the Rabbit Hole, Frabjous Sounds Set Ears Asail
Beyond Wonderland SoCal is known for hosting unforgettable DJ sets. Six main stages were situated throughout the festival. Each one offered attendees a chance to check out the latest drops from some of the biggest names in EDM.
Upon entering, I floated into the Caterpillar’s Garden just in time to catch Łaszewo drop their iconic edit of “Messy.” Further into the festival grounds, attendees were met with theatrically large shards of glass coming out of a stage where the likes of Trym, Lily Palmer, and Nico Moreno would soundtrack an earth-shattering wormhole to another dimension. For techno lovers, The Looking Glass was where it was at.
Across from the fest in the opposite corner of The Looking Glass was the massive mainstage: the Mad Hatter’s Castle. With the words “We’re All Mad Here” scrawled across the top of its 180-foot-wide and 40-foot-high structure, the versatile, open-air stage offered a range of genres under a magnificent lighting display and extensive LED video tiles.
But as I moved further away, I noticed that the sound was not as booming as expected at a stage with stadium seating. While there was a huge space to dance and enjoy the multitude of sets that rocked the stage during the course of the two-day fest, the structure had more empty spaces than peak moments.
Over at Cheshire Woods, Infected Mushroom and Gareth Emery‘s sets kept me locked in place as I fell headfirst into their grooves. But throughout the weekend, I was snapped out of that trance by a noticeable audio bleed between the two stages. It was a small blunder in the magnificent craftsmanship festival organizers displayed in audio production, but one that was noticeable enough to furrow a few eyebrows.
Alison Wonderland kept it mad as a hatter with an explosive set on the Queen’s Domain stage on Friday. Then, Benny Benassi sent my heart, soul, and ears sailing with a memorable set at the Queen of Hearts stage on Saturday night.
My favorite stage may very well have been The Sea of Wonder. Snug as a bug inside an enraptured space, it set the tone for the whimsical array of happenings inside. The large stage was surrounded by characters, lights, and LED screens, but it somehow still felt intimate. Throughout the weekend, Loco Dice, Nicole Moudaber, Grafix, and Shy FX each played there. The space also hosted the afterparty, which raged into the morning and included an energy kickstarting set by Noizu b2b OMNOM on Saturday night.
I was lucky enough to wrap up my Beyond Wonderland weekend with DJ Diesel and Zedd. The former had the rails shaking at his set, while the latter left us swooning us with time-shifting drops and callbacks.
If there’s one thing Zedd has, it’s headliner energy. He plays every set like an intimate club performance, drawing in all corners of the crowd for an uncanny experience. From beginning to end, his hour-and-a-half performance captivated the audience with original mashups and iconic mixes. They drew us into nostalgic memories, then floored us into the future before snapping us back to present-day reality.
The amazing part about the music, which made up the heartbeat of the festival, was that those six stages weren’t the only place to get lost in the sounds of Beyond Wonderland SoCal this year.
The Doorway for the Curiouser and Curiouser Led to Multiple Dimensions
Beyond Wonderland SoCal 2026 was set up in such a way that it was easy to take a ride with Alice down the rabbit hole. But, for me, it’s not about controlling the wandering, but letting the wonder take you.
One of the additional stages at Beyond Wonderland this year was the BeatBox stage, which has become a staple at many Insomniac events. It hosted sets by Pinke, a K-pop set by Chassi, Chanel West Coast, and more.
As mentioned, the Sea of Wonder also served as an interactive experience. Mesmerized by the art displays and characters, I stumbled upon a waggish tea party for which we were not late, but right on time. The stage’s trinket exchange also gave us the space to relax and meet new friends.
After catching an amazing Avicii tribute at Sullivan King‘s set, we skipped into the Rabbit Hole, where we found a small stage, tea party, ring toss game, and much more. The Doorway, situated near Cheshire Woods, led to another mini stage covered with trees, creatures, and art displays. With just enough room to dance, the space offered another relaxing place for people to get down — or cool down in between sets.
Each experience felt uniquely authentic while keeping true to the Alice in Wonderland theme. With the stage set, the actors of this whimsical land were due to come to life.

Characters of the Beyond Pilot the Wonders Wandering
No one ever says it — or at least, not enough — but the characters, artist and performers are the stars of the whole operation. Music is the heartbeat of it all; yes, this is true. But the characters make Alice’s journey through the various realms of Beyond Wonderland all the more immersive.
Throughout the festival weekend, curious characters hopped out at every turn. Fully decked out, the actors, actresses, dancers, and more stayed in character, happy and inviting, willingly enveloping you in the secrets of Wonderland.
While I was inundated with the tones of Infected Mushroom, a massive Cheshire Cat flew over my head. The two men leading the creature smiled and cheered on all the grooving Beyond Wonderland ravers. A striking Queen of Hearts addressed the crowd inside The Sea of Wonder with royal disdain while posing for quickly snapped pics and flicks.
As I walked away from the Beyond Wonderland SoCal 2026 edition, I glowed at the fact that each artist, performer, musician, and cast member left their mark on the passage that I and thousands of others were taking through the Beyond.

You are Integral in Bringing the Secrets of Wonderland to Light
Many unique elements go into bringing the fantastical world of Beyond Wonderland to life. But perhaps the biggest secret to the success of Beyond Wonderland is you.
The Headliners fully buy into the experience, from the fits that perfectly capture the whimsical vibes to the over-the-top totems and trinkets to the genuine PLUR vibes. You provide it all!
Though Friday came with a worrying number of ill festival attendees, as always, the Insomniac Ground Control led with compassion and stayed proactive. The festival provided safe spaces for attendees at the Oasis, for sober ravers with the Consciousness group, and for all who needed it, the END Overdose tent.
We all have our roles to play in this psychedelic storybook that comes to life each year. The keys to the secrets of the Beyond are only a trip away. The 2026 edition of this wondrous journey will stay locked away in my mind until I return next year to revel in the secrets of Beyond Wonderland once again with my rave fam.
