Ben fears for Susie’s safety on Coronation Street after reckless act from Maggie

The Driscoll family are sadly all too familiar with abuse on Coronation Street. So it’s no wonder they’re on a permanent state of high alert.

Ben Driscoll had his entire world destroyed by the stomach-churning discovery that his sonWill Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) after he was groomed by the predatory athletics coach Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).

It was a horrific realisation that shook the landlords and ladies of the Rovers’ Return to their very core, causing serious friction between Ben and his acid-tongued battle-axe of a mother,Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn).

Mother Maggie let her fiery temper get the best of her on more than one occasion, hurting Megan by physically pushing her in an effort to scare the abuser into leaving Will alone.

Then again, what can you expect from a woman who pushed her husband down the stairs to his death to conceal the bombshell that Ben is actually the lovechild of her affair with Corrie moustachioed legend Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson).

Honestly, it’s a wonder that she and Ben still talk.

But talk they do. Loudly, most of the time. Since Megan was found guilty and justice was served, mother and son have found a way to rub along together. Things are mostly more peaceful now, aside from the threat ofOllie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) going to prison and Ben catching Maggie post coital with Brian Packham (Peter Gunn), all is rosy in the Rover’s Return.

Of course, that’s all about to change.

Ben butts heads with Maggie in upcoming scenes of Coronation Street when he holds his mother responsible for potentially putting Susie Price (Aurora Bradshaw) – his stepdaughter from his relationship with Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) – in danger.

Anybody who’s watched Corrie for five minutes will know that our Susie is a right little mini-diva at the tender age of eight with more sass and style than the whole of Audrey’s Salon combined. Naturally, she’s drawn to the performing arts.

However, Ben is less than impressed to discover that Maggie posted a video of Eva singing and dancing on the Rovers’ website. No doubt influenced by the Megan ordeal, Ben is determined to keep his stepdaughter safe and insists Maggie take the video down for safety reasons.

But it’s already attracted the attention of Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger), who compliments Susie and suggests she should sign up for the Little Big Shotz talent competition.

While Glenda assures Susie that she’s a star in the making, Ben reckons Glenda should be taken to task for encouraging her.

Will Susie’s moment in the spotlight end in disaster?
