Ben Affleck’s Mother’s Cause of Death Revealed

The cause of death of Chris Affleck, the mother of Ben and Casey Affleck, has been revealed. The report comes just four days after the Affleck family announced her death in the Boston Globe. Chris had passed away a month before the announcement.

Ben and Casey Affleck’s mother died from Cardiopulmonary arrest

According to the certificate obtained by Us Weekly, Ben and Casey Affleck’s mother, Christopher Anne Affleck, died from cardiopulmonary arrest. She was 83 years old. The outlet also reported that other conditions leading to her death, listed in the certificate, include pancreatic adenocarcinoma, which she had had for months.

The death certificate further indicates that Chris passed away at 10:52 a.m. on June 2, while “visiting son’s residence.” According to the records, the address is associated with Ben Affleck. The certificate also noted that no autopsy was performed.

The Affleck family announced Chris’ death in an obituary published in the Boston Globe on July 24. She passed away a month prior to the announcement, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The Affleck family further shared that Chris had been given “six months to live in December of 2025,” before her death in June.

“Her greatest wish after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate high school,” the obituary states. “She did so, attending with her family on May 31, 2026. She died peacefully, in her sleep, two days later,” it adds.

Chris was born in 1942 and later became one of the first Radcliffe women to receive a diploma from Harvard University. She worked as a public school teacher for more than three decades.

The obituary shared that Chris’ “favorite young people” were her sons, actors Ben and Casey, as well as her five grandchildren, Indiana, Violet, Atticus, Fin, and Sam. Her grandchildren “were the animating force of her last two decades,” the obituary reads.
