A fan-favorite Batman comic series is set for an animated TV adaptation. Over the past two years, the comic series has become a favorite among Batman fans. Now, fans will get to see the story adapted for television. Now, they will witness its action-packed experience on their screens.

What is the new Batman TV show?

It’s been revealed that the Absolute Batman comic series is turning into an animated TV show, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The TV series will involve the comic’s creators, writer Scott Snyder, and artist Nick Dragotta, in the overall development.

Absolute Batman will be one of the three animated projects that have been recently announced by DC. The new Batman TV show was announced during a presentation from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Speaking more of the Absolute Batman comic line, it debuted in late 2024 and has remained popular with readers. This series presents an alternate version of Bruce Wayne’s story in which he loses only one parent rather than both. And he happens to be a blue-collar worker from the projects, not a rich kid from the Wayne family inside Gotham.

In this alternate universe, Batman is portrayed as more ruthless than the traditional version of the character, who is typically guided by a strict moral code.

The entire Absolute Batman comic series has sold over 6 million copies so far. Plus, Absolute Batman has been No.1 across 11 printings. Interestingly, the Absolute Batman comic and the overall Absolute series have helped DC surpass Marvel for the first time this century in terms of dominating market share.

As for the Absolute Batman animated TV series, it will have Snyder as the executive producer and showrunner alongside Dragotta as the producer.

Batman is enjoying a good time in animation at this point. The character will also be seen in the upcoming Knightfall animated series. There is also the Batman: Caped Crusader show, set for a second season next month.
