Basic Instinct’s Sharon Stone Explains Why She Fast-Forwards TV Sex Scenes

In a recent interview ahead of her new role on Euphoria, Sharon Stone spoke about some iconic scenes in her defining film, Basic Instinct. Stone also claimed that whenever she watches her own scenes on TV, she fast forwards the sex scenes, explaining in the interview why she does so.

Sharon Stone recently sat down for an interview with CBS Mornings ahead of her role in Euphoria Season 3. During the discussion, Stone was asked about the iconic scene in Basic Instinct where Catherine Tramell crosses and uncrosses her legs during the interrogation. This became a seminal scene of the film, and despite being a short sequence, it became hugely impactful for Stone.

“It was a third of a frame,” Stone said of the scene where Catherine Tramell distracted the male investigators by revealing that she was not wearing underwear. “It wasn’t even an entire frame of film.”

She went on to explain, “And so people were desperately trying to figure it out. And I think that that idea of oh my god, this hope, this wonder, this mystery, this intrigue, this yearning is something that is what all of our profound sexuality is based in.”

Adding to this, Stone said, “So often now when sex scenes come on TV, I fast forward it.” She continued, “I don’t want to see it. I don’t want to have to go through all of this blatant, harsh sexuality…For me, it steals from my own imagination.” She added, “And I prefer my yearning, mystery, desire. I want to keep that alive inside myself.”

This particular scene had a huge impact on Sharon Stone’s life. This is the scene that made her a huge star. However, it was also the scene that contributed to her losing the custody of her son years later.
