Barry Manilow was forced to halt his Las Vegas residency performances this past weekend after a sudden medical setback, marking a disappointing turn for the 83-year-old singer who had just returned to the stage. Representatives for the performer and the Westgate Las Vegas confirmed that Manilow has been diagnosed with bronchitis, leading to the cancellation of his Saturday show and the premature end of his Friday night set.

The health issue surfaced abruptly on Friday, October 9. Manilow was only minutes into his performance at the International Theater when he reportedly realized he could not continue. After performing approximately two songs, he told the audience to “talk amongst yourselves” before walking off the stage. His representative later stated that Manilow was “hit with bronchitis” following what had been a successful return to the venue on Thursday, October 8.

A History of Respiratory Challenges

The diagnosis is particularly significant given Manilow’s recent medical history. The legendary “Copacabana” singer was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer in late 2025, a discovery that was made only after he sought treatment for a persistent 11-week bout of bronchitis. The subsequent MRI led to a lobectomy to remove a cancerous spot on his left lung.

The current respiratory infection comes as Manilow attempts to balance a demanding performance schedule with his recovery. Prior to a six-week hiatus that began in late August, the singer had completed a grueling summer run of 29 shows in just 68 days. Thursday night’s performance was intended to be his triumphant return to his “The Last Las Vegas” residency, which is currently scheduled to run into 2026.

The physical toll of the residency has been a point of focus for fans, as the 83-year-old has continued to maintain high energy levels despite his recent surgery. This latest relapse into bronchitis has raised questions regarding the remainder of his October dates.

Refunds and Future Schedule

Ticketmaster has already begun issuing refund notices to fans who attended the truncated October 9 show and those who held tickets for the cancelled October 10 performance. At this time, the venue has not announced plans to reschedule the missed dates.

Manilow’s next scheduled appearances at the Westgate are slated for October 15 through October 17, 2026. While those dates remain on the calendar, their status is currently unconfirmed as the singer recovers. His team has not yet provided an update on whether the infection will impact the planned 2026 schedule for his residency.
