The re-release adds roughly three minutes of footage that directly bridges into Avengers: Doomsday. Joe Russo described these additions as a narrative connection to the December blockbuster.

The original ending featuring Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter sharing their long-awaited slow dance now extends further. A sudden knock at the door interrupts the couple, and Peggy opens it to an unseen visitor. Loki then steps through the threshold and tells them, “No, but I can help you. Both of you.” This scene establishes context for the relocation of Steve, Peggy, and their family to Earth-8282. That relocation serves as the rumored catalyst for Doomsday’s central plot.

The first post-credits scene picks up after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Bruce Banner appears via video message from a military bunker two miles underground. He explains that the Hulk cannot escape and that nobody can get in. Banner then reveals he has been developing a new serum to suppress his gamma radiation. However, the video begins to glitch as Doctor Doom breaches the bunker. Doom tells Banner, “I’m here to collect you,” before Banner transforms off-screen, and a green magic sigil appears.

The second scene opens at the TVA, where Miss Minutes reminds people to stay in their own universe. Mobius, Ouroboros, and Casey then observe two universes colliding on their control panel. One is Earth-10005, the Fox X-Men universe, which begins firing missiles at another Earth. The crisis rapidly escalates as 3,000 universes face annihilation, directly setting up the X-Men as hardened survivors who greet the Avengers with hostility in Doomsday trailers.

The final stinger shows Doctor Doom hammering his metal mask on an anvil. This mirrors Tony Stark forging the Mark I suit in 2008’s Iron Man and calls back the original Avengers: Endgame credits.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18.
