The last time the Atlanta Dream and Dallas Wings faced off, the night turned into the talk of the town. Brittney Griner’s ejection stole headlines, with debates swirling over whether there was even real contact with the officials. And if that wasn’t enough, the game went right down to the wire, sealed by Naz Hillmon’s clutch three with just three seconds left. Now the question is, can tonight’s matchup bring that same kind of energy?

Let’s be hones, this is a rough time to be a Dallas fan. With eight players on the injury report and the team already stuck at the bottom of the standings, things couldn’t get much bleaker. The Wings are on a six-game skid, and injuries just keep piling up. In their latest outing, a 101–95 loss to Connecticut, both Luisa Geiselsöder and Aziaha James went down late and didn’t return.
On the other hand, the Atlanta Dream (24–14) have been soaring all season long, even though they’re fresh off a tough 81–75 loss to the Aces. Led by Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, they are set to enter postseason as one of the top seeds. The Dream also lead the season series against Dallas, 2–1, heading into tonight. At the same time, since their last game, Dallas has dropped 10 of their last 11, with the lone win coming against Indiana.
Today, the Wings are expected to debut new signings, Amy Okonkwo and rookie Serena Sundell, but they’ll need more than that to slow down an Atlanta team hungry to bounce back. That said, everything hinges on Bueckers. If the Rookie of the Year frontrunner suits up, Dallas at least has a shot, she’s already shown she can torch defenses and carry an offense.
But if she doesn’t play, the Wings’ chances dip dramatically.
Prediction: All signs point to Atlanta. The Dream should control this matchup easily unless Bueckers comes back AND drops a star-level performance.
