I have long wondered if those who lived in pre-Revolutionary America knew somehow that they were living in capital-R Revolutionary times. What were they feeling in 1765, 1770, 1775? Did they know somehow, on some level, that a can’t-turn-back tipping point was near? The troubles were certainly ongoing.
