Anticipated Aliens Video Game Release Date Delayed for a Good Reason

A hotly anticipated Aliens video game has been officially delayed. However, the reasons cited for the shift in the release date might be in the best interests of the game.

According to an update from Cold Iron, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been pushed back from its initial release date to Early 2027. According to the developer, it is laser-focused on delivering the game in the best possible state to its players.

Why is Cold Iron taking more time with the Switch 2 version

In a statement released by the developer regarding the delay, Cold Iron stated, “After careful consideration, we now plan to release it natively on Switch 2 in early 2027. This extra time will help the team deliver the best possible version for the hardware.”

They have also promised that additional information about the game will be available in the coming weeks and months.

The initial release was scheduled for later this month. Despite the disappointment fans may feel about the delay, Cold Iron is looking to improve the game’s performance on the Switch 2. Fans can expect a better product early next year instead of a subpar one later this month.

No exact date has been announced for the release just yet. Cold Iron also did not identify specific issues they plan to fix in the game ahead of its release. The release date push so close to launch could be thanks to an error that could have been catastrophic, but it might also be that the developer is simply looking to polish gameplay and improve user experience.

The game is available to play on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. It was released on these platforms on August 25, 2026. The developer did not talk about any additional features it might be looking to add in this extended launch window either.
