Another of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s Children Just Legally Dropped Pitt’s Last Name

Another child of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has legally gotten rid of the former’s surname. This move came after Shiloh, Maddox, and Vivienne had followed a similar path. The surname change was reflected even at the time of Jolie’s child’s graduation ceremony, which wasn’t attended by Pitt.

On Monday, September 28, Zahara had a name change petition hearing, which resulted in her dropping her father’s name. She previously used to go by the name “Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt.” However, now, she prefers to refer to herself as Zahara Marley Jolie. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, a Californian judge approved this legal move. She reportedly filed for a name change on Tuesday, June 9 in the Superior Court of California.

Earlier this year, Zahara graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College. During her graduation ceremony, her Pitt surname removal was reflected when she was introduced as just Jolie on stage. On the other hand, Maddox also dropped Pitt’s surname from the credits of his filmography. He was credited as Maddox Jolie in  Jolie-starred and produced Couture.  Meanwhile, Shiloh also filed for a name change on her 18th birthday back in 2024. 

Back in December 2025, a source claimed that the children seemed to have picked a side amid Jolie and Pitt’s ongoing legal battles. A source told Globe, “[The children] worry like crazy about their mom, to the point where they’ve all agreed never to leave her totally on her own. One of them is always around and staying at the house with her.” They said that though Jolie has taken care of the kids for years, the children are now sharing her responsibilities and looking after her too. “Zahara is leading the charge, she’s very organized, but they are all equally invested. Their mom is still the center of their worlds,” the source explained.
