Andy Burnham and Nigel FarageVoters believe Andy Burnham would make a better prime minister than Nigel Farage, according to a new poll.
The findings come as the former mayor of Greater Manchester prepares to take over from Keir Starmer in No.10.
Pollsters YouGov gave 2,381 British adults a range of political head-to-heads and asked which of them would make the best PM.
When asked to choose between Burnham and Farage, 43% said the new Labour MP for Makerfield, with just 23% choosing the Reform UK leader.
The vast majority of Burnham’s support came from those who voted Labour, Green or Lib Dem at the last general election, although 25% of Tory voters said they would also rather see him in No.10 than Farage.
Burnham also beat Tory leader Kemi Badenoch, but only by 32% to 28%.
In a head-to-head with Green Party leader Zack Polanski, Burnham easily won by 38% to 11%, while he beat Lib Dem leader Ed Davey by 32% to 11%.
The poll also found that Burnham out-performs Starmer in his best PM head-to-heads with the other party leaders.
The outgoing prime minister beat Farage by 40% to 30%, was tied on 33% each with Badenoch, beat Polanski by 27% to 22% and lost to Davey by 27% to 23%.
