Setting the mood, our time in Alien: Isolation 2 kicked off with our survey team stuck in a storm  on a remote colony-planet. Searching the area, we soon came across a mysterious crashed vessel.

Being the absolute geniuses that we are, we ventured in, restored power to the craft…and came across something absolutely sinister that we were now forced to contend with.

Before our Alien: Isolation 2 Summer Game Fest Play Days session, we were briefed in-flight safety video-style.

One thing was made perfectly clear from our hosts:

There is no beating the Alien; just finding a way to survive.

There’s also no flamethrower to save the day; the team read our mind and included that important point in the video.

As a result, our time in Alien: Isolation 2 had us deftly trying to plan our escape in true survival horror fashion as we tried to survive its horror.

Tense is putting it mildly; we carefully tracked out every move as hid in blind spots, moved slowly to prevent loud footsteps, crouched whenever possible, and sparingly used our flashlight.

As it turns out, this Alien threat in Alien: Isolation 2 was incredibly smart, catching us off guard on more than one occasion – we have video proof from the session of our genuine shock.

They got us good. 

True to series form, one instance during our session had us navigating the vessel’s vents – we’ll fess us up that the Alien found us there too.

Our tense time with Alien: Isolation 2 at Summer Game Fest truly immersed us in its world, having us desperately attempt to survive the horror of this survival horror hit.
