Remember last year when Alexander Skarsgård had some fun with S&M-inspired fashion while promoting his sub-dom rom-com Pillion?
Well, he and stylist Harry Lambert have taken just as much of a hands-on approach to theming when it comes to his latest big screen offering.
The Swedish actor is now in full promo mode for his new film Wicker, in which he stars opposite Olivia Colman in a twisted love story that’s part fairytale, part sex comedy.
Alexander Skarsgård and Olivia Colman at the London premiere of WickerOn Thursday night, the pair attended the movie’s UK premiere as part of the London Film Festival, with Alexander definitely leaning into his character on the red carpet.
He was pictured making his way into the event in a bright gold suit with woven detail.
And, to quote the great prophet Dominique Jackson, “get the shoes, baby… get the shoes”.
Alexander Skarsgård was definitely leaning into his Wicker character at a screening of the movie on ThursdayIncredible.
Wicker centres around a lonely fisherwoman in medieval times, who wishes for a husband to be woven for her, only for him to come to life, causing a stir in their rural village with their impassioned romance.
For the film, Alexander looks unrecognisable in head-to-toe wicker, which he opened up about during an interview with Graham Norton to be aired on Friday night.
“[The costume] was real and made by the same artists that worked on Lord of the Rings,” he explained. “The suit was exquisite, and it took them 18 months to make.”
“I particularly liked the nipples – they had extraordinary craftsmanship, so I kept them,” he added, before presenting them to the Irish talk show host as a gift.
Ahead of its release next month, Wicker has seemingly already split opinion right down the middle, withThe Times hailing Olivia Colman’s “astonishing” performance, while The Telegraph tore into the “mortifying” film in a one-star take.
Wicker – which also stars Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki and Richard E Grant – hits UK cinemas on Friday 30 October.
