Jannik Sinner, climbed into the quarterfinals after defeating Alexander Bublik in the round of 16 of the 2025 US Open. And the score? It’s a fearsome 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. Needless to say, this performance proved why Sinner deserves to be at the number one spot in the ATP rankings. But that doesn’t mean Bublik is a weak player. We have to note that he’s the one who defeated Tommy Paul. But losing to Sinner made him take a step back and just appreciate how strong the Italian was.
Prior to the third set, Alexander Bublik revealed his disbelief and amazement at his opponent’s skill set. He claimed, “I mean, he’s like an AI-generated player.” Isn’t it crazy how Sinner allowed Bublik to win just one game in each set? On top of that, he secured 8 aces, while making just one double fault in the match. And after he lost the game to the world number 1, Bublik had a brief interaction with Jannik Sinner.
Needless to say, the Kazakh player still wasn’t able to accept what happened at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Russian-born star told Sinner, “You’re so good, this is insane. I’m not bad, like what the f—!” And with that, Bublik stepped away from the US Open, while Sinner stepped on to the next level.
