Adam Copeland is reportedly down to the final entry on his professional “bucket list” of iconic wrestling venues. Following a recent appearance at the site of the historic Maple Leaf Gardens, the Tokyo Dome remains the last major international stage the veteran has yet to cross off his list.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the Tokyo Dome is now the primary objective for Copeland as he enters the later stages of his career. This follows a successful run of milestones where Copeland sought to compete in the world’s most renowned wrestling cathedrals before his eventual retirement.

The “White Whale” List

The quest to compete in specific legendary buildings has been a focal point for Copeland’s tenure in AEW. In August 2026, Copeland shared a “White Whale” list on social media, detailing the locations he felt were essential to his legacy. Since that post, he has methodically checked off nearly every entry.

Most recently, on October 3, 2026, Copeland competed at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto. The venue sits on the site of the original Maple Leaf Gardens, a location that held significant sentimental value for Copeland, who grew up attending matches at the historic arena. This followed his appearance at Wembley Stadium for All In: London on August 30, and a subsequent trip to Arena Mexico in September.

With those venues secured, the Tokyo Dome stands as the final hurdle. Given the working relationship between AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), an appearance at an event like Wrestle Kingdom has become a practical possibility for the former multi-time world champion.

Current Status and Contract Extension

Copeland remains a central figure in AEW’s tag team division. He and Christian Cage currently hold the AEW World Tag Team Championships, having successfully defended the titles at All In: London and again at All Out on September 26, 2026. Their resurgence as a duo has anchored the division throughout the latter half of the year.

While there has been speculation regarding the length of Copeland’s remaining time in the ring, his contract has reportedly been extended. Time was added to his original deal to account for a hiatus caused by a broken leg injury sustained in 2024, as well as time away for filming commitments. Copeland recently completed work on the film Beekeeper 2, as well as the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

These extensions provide a wider window for AEW to coordinate a Tokyo Dome appearance. While no specific date has been confirmed, the wrestling calendar traditionally focuses on the Tokyo Dome every January 4 for NJPW’s premier annual event. Meltzer’s report suggests that making this debut is a priority for Copeland before he considers stepping away from active competition.
