Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) is driven further into the arms of creepy copper Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) in EastEnders next week.

Since his first appearance in Walford last month, there has been something not quite right about Jack Branning’s (Scott Maslen) police colleague, who had been leading the investigation into Joel Marshall’s (Max Murray) attack.

After Craig gave Amy his personal number last week, the pair later met up secretly, where Amy confessed that she was the one who had hit Joel over the head with a hammer on the night that the Walford teens tied him up and humiliated him.

Craig vowed to keep Amy’s bombshell a secret, but has since been suspended from duty after a serious complaint was made against him.

The copper is being investigated for gross misconduct regarding a situation that unfolded earlier this year. Craig’s boss proceeded to reveal that someone has stated that he engaged in ‘inappropriate relationships with a female officer.’

After his suspension, Craig later managed to stop Amy’s plot to run away from home, amid her fears she’d be caught out for her crimes.

Next week, a heartbreaking rejection from Denzel Danes (Jaden Luke Ladega) drives vulnerable Amy to seek out Craig once again.

Following the revelation that Amy’s ex Denzel kissed her best friend Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) on the night of Joel’s attack, Denzel plans to try and make it up to Amy by asking her to get back together.

However, his father Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) manages to talk him out of getting back with her. So, when Amy later makes her own move on him, he rejects her, leaving her even more wounded and upset.

Shortly afterwards, she encounters Craig in the park, where he proposes the idea of them meeting up, to which she agrees.

But a naive Amy has no idea that Craig may not be all he makes himself out to be. Just what is he up to?

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 24th August at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
