The only vampire movies to have arguably lasted up until 2026 are the ones that didn’t treat the vampire as a gimmick and instead used it as a pressure point. Hunger, seduction, loneliness, rot, immortality, shame, the thrill of becoming untouchable, the terror of waking up and realizing untouchable also means unheld. And that is the nerve the movies I’ve chosen keep pressing.
