Thrillers often rely on sustaining elements of suspense, mystery or intrigue, so it’s impressive when any television series is able to do so through multiple episodes. Some accomplish it through an anthology format, breaking each season into its own narrative, while others let their plots burn slowly over multiple seasons. Either way, thriller series often benefit from shorter runs. There have been all too many examples of shows that have come out strong with dynamic first seasons that have been unable to maintain that pace and quickly deflate.
