Edia announced a licensing agreement with Nihon Falcom to port retro classic titles such as Ys and Xanadu onto modern consoles. The companies are aiming for 2026 and 2027 worldwide releases, with more information to come later. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

In total, Edia and Falcom will re-release seven games. The games, along with their original release dates, are:

Ys I & II - December 21, 1989 Ys III: Wanderers From Ys - March 22, 1991 Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys - December 22, 1993 Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes - October 25, 1991 Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes II - December 23, 1992 The Legend of Xanadu - February 18, 1994 The Legend of Xanadu II - June 30, 1995

All titles are the PC Engine CD-ROM2 versions of the game. These games are not only key games in Falcom's catalogue, but in JRPG history as well.

Edia has been releasing its retro IPs onto modern consoles and making them available on international markets. Now, it wants to use its experience to port and license other retro games. According to a statement from Edia, making retro titles available on modern consoles without emulation is a meaningful project, since it will bring good titles from Japan’s past back into the public eye.

The seven Falcom titles will appear on modern consoles in 2026 and 2027, with more information on the individual titles likely to appear closer to the release windows.
