The Punisher: One Last Kill trailer gives MCU fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming TV special.
Marvel Television’s The Punisher: One Last Kill is being released on Disney+ next month. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the project will once again see Jon Bernthal reprise his MCU role as Frank Castle/Punisher.
The first full-length trailer for One Last Kill was just recently released, and there’s plenty in the footage to dig into and get excited about. Here are five things that should have Marvel Studios fans hyped for The Punisher special.
Jon Bernthal is co-writing The Punisher: One Last Kill
Bernthal is not only starring in The Punisher: One Last Kill, but he also co-wrote the screenplay for the special with Green. This marks his first credited work as a writer, which is plenty of reason to get excited, as it shows this is a passion project he very, very much cares about. Bernthal knows the MCU Punisher character perhaps better than anyone, so his involvement behind the camera means he’s really doing everything he can to make sure this is a project that pleases fans.
A star of the Netflix Punisher show is returning
The Punisher: One Last Kill isn’t ignoring the events of the Netflix Punisher show, as Jason R. Moore returns as Curtis Hoyle in the new trailer. Granted, it seems that Curtis may have died, as Frank appears to be having visions of him; however, it’s good to know that the special is acknowledging the past show instead of leaning away from it. This could mean some more surprise appearances are in store for fans.
Violent Frank isn’t going away anytime soon
We know that the Punisher will be in Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While we don’t know how big a role Frank will have in that movie, it will obviously be different in tone than One Last Kill. But those who were afraid that Bernthal’s inclusion in that movie means we might be done with the gritty, violent Frank have nothing to fear; he’s a man on a mission in this new trailer, and that mission is certainly going to involve a lot of bloodshed.
One Last Kill’s action looks incredible
We don’t get a sense of who, exactly, Frank is going after in The Punisher: One Last Kill, but the trailer definitely lets us know that there won’t be any shortage of violence. The brief glimpses that we see of the action scenes all look pretty incredible, and there’ll surely be loads more that we haven’t seen yet.
Frank’s MCU future is looking bright
The Punisher: One Last Kill seems to be focusing on Frank fighting his demons once and for all. Once it’s over? Once he’s completed his “last kill” (it surely will not be his last) and is ready to leave the past behind him? Well, who knows? We know he’ll be in Spider-Man, obviously, but there are tons and tons of Punisher comics out there that can be adapted. If One Last Kill is a hit, Marvel can start taking Frank in all kinds of different directions, or have him interact with all kinds of different characters, in the MCU.
